HAPPY NEW YEAR! If you make resolutions, I hope that you follow through with all of them. I never make resolutions. I just hope I’m better than I was the year before. Just as my ancestors before me I made kraut and smoked sausage for good luck.

Sour Kraut and Smoked Sausage In the Crock Pot


4 14.7oz Cans of Sour Kraut

2lb smoked sausage

3/4 Cup brown sugar

1/4 Cup apple juice

1 tsp onion powder


Dump In all four cans of kraut, slice sausage in thin coins and add to kraut. Then add brown sugar, apple juice, and onion powder. Cook on low for eight hours, stirring every 45 minutes or so.


Cabbage Stew Recipe


6 Cups chicken broth

1lb Smoked sausage

2 or 3 chopped carrots

4 or 5 medium sized potatoes

1 head of cabbage

1 large onion

salt,pepper and other preferred seasonings to taste.


In a dutch oven or large pan. Cook sausage and onion over medium heat until sausage is brown and onion is translucent. Add Cabbage, potatoes, carrots, and seasonings. Cover and cook for about 35 minutes or until vegetables and potatoes are tender.
